About Our NYC Location

Broadway. Fashion Week. Fifth Avenue. Madison Avenue. New York City has long been a hub for the beauty, fashion, theater, film, television and art worlds. When MUD’s New York Campus opened its doors in 2005, we were excited to create a center for aspiring and working make-up artists in one of the most bustling cities in the world.

Today, MUD’s New York Campus occupies the fifteenth floor of the historic American Express building in the Financial District. Our Campus is just steps away from Wall Street, Stone Street eateries and the Battery Park waterfront area. Students can choose from four comprehensive programs or individual courses, learning the basics of beauty, character or special make-up effects. They’ll also have access to career advisement, a robust alumni network and ongoing MUD Talks with established make-up artists.

I loved everything about it! As an international student, I highly recommend it!

I did a lot of research looking for the right makeup school for me and my interests. MUD was the best place for me. Teachers go above and beyond for their students and they have a great career placement program.

I took their master course and I don't regret taking it! This school really breaks that glass ceiling and gives you opportunities to meet and be around professionals in the industry. I graduated a little over a year ago, and I already have my dream job. Working for a recognized professional artist making feature films!

MUD NYC Campus Housing

MUD is located in downtown Manhattan’s Financial District, steps away from Wall Street, Stone Street eateries and the Battery Park riverfront walk. New York’s Financial District is one of the cleanest, safest and most sought-after neighborhoods in the city. It even has its own Downtown Alliance security guards who assist the NYPD in keeping the area safe, and are always on hand with friendly tips on where to go or what to do in the area.

Metropolitan New York City is one of the most expensive places to live in the United States, and demand is high for available housing. Students need to plan ahead, in order to ensure that they have given themselves enough time to secure acceptable housing. When beginning the housing search, please note that there are many easy and accessible public transportation commuter options to and from the island of Manhattan.

The city, outlying boroughs, and communities across the river in New Jersey are well served by a number of subways, commuter train and commuter bus lines.

MUD has put together a list of resources where you can begin your search for housing options. If you need housing assistance, please speak with MUD’s Student Services Administrator for a list of the most current options available.

MUD NYC Transportation

New York City is served by a wide range of public transportation options. Students can access in-depth information about traveling in and out of New York on the websites listed below.

To get acclimated to New York City before arriving, we recommend that students review travel books like the Not For Tourists Guide to New York City. Information is updated annually and structured on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood basis.
