Contouring Demo with MUD LA Instructor Ronda Althen

Contouring has been around for hundreds of years, dating back to the 1500s, and we’re pretty sure it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. The technique continues to evolve, but the purpose of contouring ultimately remains the same: to use dark and light shades to shape, sculpt and add dimension to your face.

MUD LA Instructor Ronda Althen shows us how to achieve a subtle, natural contour using our Highlight and Shadow Palette.

To contour, first pick a shade that suits your skin tone. You can accomplish this by looking at the undertones of both the product and your complexion.

With our No. 700 Angle Contour Brush, start in the area where you want the most product to land—typically towards the hairline.

Move the brush at a downward angle underneath your cheekbone, slowly releasing the pressure you put on the brush so that the shape will blend.

Finally, use our No. 615 Buffer Brush to blend any hard edges.
