With an eye to fashion and rich editorial traditions, the Fashion Make-up Artistry Program provides students with a strong foundation in beauty make-up artistry. The elements of beauty make-up form the foundations of all make-up and the perfect starting point for the new make-up artist. Over a total of 392 hours in 12 weeks, students complete the three courses that comprise the school’s beauty section.

Students begin their study of make-up in Beauty 101: Fundamentals of Beauty Make-up Artistry where the basics of skin tone matching, facial analysis, contouring, color theory and proper cosmetic hygiene are taught.
No look is complete without attention to the hair. After completing Beauty 101, the student will move on to Beauty 201: Studio Hairstyling, enhancing their industry knowledge with the addition of hairstyling techniques that vary from updos to hairstyles of different periods in time. As the student progresses thought the course, the hairstyles become more advanced and the skills learned in Beauty 101 are incorporated to create a complete look.

Beauty 301: Beauty Lab is the perfect opportunity for the student’s creativity to come alive. In this course, students create makeup and hairstyling set-ups on professional models in a series of projects that are designed to challenge the student while simulating actual working environments. Each set-up is captured by a professional photographer and the photos may serve as the beginning of the student’s portfolio.

It is the design of the program for the graduate to have developed the skills necessary to begin their career as an entry-level make-up artist. The new artist will find employment opportunities working as a:

 // Make-up Artist

 // Sales Consultant

 // Freelance Artist for Weddings and Social Occasions

 // Make-up Artist at a Salon (state licensing as a cosmetologist or esthetician may be required)

As the start of a career in fashion make-up artistry, the graduate of the Fashion Make-up Artistry Program will be prepared with the beauty skills necessary to work in both the fashion industry.
